Fossil fuels - They are made of hydrocarbons that have been formed from the organic remains of prehistoric plants and animals. Renewable resource - A resource that can be renewed as quickly as it is used up. Nonrenewable resource - Any natural resource from the Earth that exists in limited supply and cannot be replenished by natural means at the same rates that it is consumed. Global Warming - The increase in the average global temperatures as a result of an increase in the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Greenhouse Effect - A natural process in which solar radiation is absorbed by greenhouse gases in the atmosphere thereby warming the Earth's atmosphere and surface. La Nina - The cool water phase of ENSO. El Nino- The warm water phase of ENSO. |
